Police Analysis and Planning for Vehicular Bombings: Prevention, Defense, and Response
Published in Paperback by Charles C Thomas Pub Ltd (February, 1999)
Author: John W. Ellis
Average review score:

reading the headlines you will think, "he was right "
In this book, and its companion, Mr. Ellis has compiled an extensive work. He provides both the broad overview and the specific details, all written from firsthand experience gained over decades. The author's police, military and civilian training gives him the unique perspective to write knowledgably in this highly specialized area. Expect to be shocked by his well thought out and clearly explained conclusions. Stunned by the implications, I sometimes had to put the books aside, realizing that he is exactly correct. From over-pressure calculation and affect, to Khobar Towers, fine reference material for your personal library.

Good Primary Source
I am a student of history working on my thesis and have found this book to be very benifical to my work. This is due to the fact that all the important and or useful sermons are in the book and makes my job so much easier.

The Politics of Change in Georgia: A Political Biography of Ellis Arnall
Published in Hardcover by University of Georgia Press (August, 1991)
Author: Harold Paulk Henderson
Average review score:

Excellent political biography of Governor ahead of his time.
Henderson, a college professor at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, has done a great service by writing this scholarly and readable chronicle of the late Georgia Governor Ellis Arnall's political career. Arnall was Governor of Georgia from 1943-47, a time which saw various political controversies and accomplishments. Henderson arranges the various events of Arnall's term in a thematic manner, dealing with Arnall's fight to obtain fairer freight rates for the south, the "three governor's controversy of 1947", and Arnall's refusal to fight against the Supreme Court decision that overturned Georgia's "whites-only" primary.

While stressing that Arnall was much more progressive and liberal than his political opponents, Henderson doesn't shy away from exposing Arnall's flaws and his support for much of the segregationist stance of the time. Of course, no Georgia politician in the time period could have been elected state-wide who didn't support segregation, and Arnall's failure to be as much of a rabid race baiter as Talmadge and others effectively killed off his political career after 1947. All of this is presented effectively in the book, along with Arnall's support of education, his friendship with Henry Wallace, and his post gubernatorial career as a businessman, attorney, author, speaker, and his failed 1966 campaign for governor.

I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in southern history, and Georgia history in particular. As I stated earlier, Professor Henderson has penned a well written and informative biography of this important Georgia politician.

Authors: Thomas Farber, Donald S. Ellis, and Daniel David
Average review score:

a laughing good time
This tiny chap book is a wonder of wit and proverbial wisdom. Having read this so many times, I find myself crossing paths with situations in life that immediately bring many of these epigrams to mind, to the tip of the tongue where they seem to dance so nicely, so succinctly. Laughing fits a many, lends itself to good hysterics. Read it and weap.

Precious Daughters!
I bought this book for my daughter's seventh birthday. We have used it over and over again! She absolutely loves it and feel very special when we read it out loud. The stories relate to where she is right now and has helped create warm memories. It even compliments her reading level and has encouraged her to learn about God. The heart shaped necklace is a bonus to this darling book.

Ptolemy of Egypt
Published in Hardcover by Routledge (March, 1994)
Author: Walter M. Ellis
Average review score:

ideal book about Ptolemy I
This study provides great details on this ancient ruler's life. Although he lived part of it in the shadow of Alexander the Great, much is owed to Ptolemy I Soter : the birth of the Hellenistic state, the creation of the Museum, the addition of the Great Library and the Lighthouse to the city of Alexandria, as well as other extraordinary achievements both in and beyond Egypt. Alexandria, his capital, became known as an intellectual center. This book not only tells the story of a leader, but also of his satrapy, his kingship, his family, the wars he fought, and his role during Alexander the Great's reign. With several black and white pictures, it is a recommended biography of interest to students of Greek and Ptolemaic history.

Queen and Country: Operation Broken Ground
Published in Paperback by Oni Press (December, 2002)
Authors: Greg Rucka, Steve Rolston, and Warren Ellis
Average review score:

Pure gold.
Greg Rucka's acclaimed spy series starts here. From the word go, Rucka doesn't let up, doesn't slow the pace down, nor does he bore the reader or make the series seem too OTT. The spy genre has had a misconception that it's all glam and gadgets, no thanks to the recent SFX obsessed Bond films, but Rucka crushes all that, he brings the genre right back to it's origins and makes it a dark and violent and very realistic, good vs. bad scenario. The main charm about the book though is the amount of characterisation in the book, from Paul Crocker the moody, arrogant, commander in chief type character to Tara Chace's professionalism with a hint of "f**k you" attitude. Rolston's crisp, clean, sharp artwork adds a deeper depth, concentrating on facial expressions and pushing his sequential talents to the max. Using panels of different size and space he never bores the reader or repeats himself. A true talent.
Queen and Country is an original, down to earth spy story. But it's more than that, it grips the reader from the first page to the very last one. It gives American comics a different edge and the reason it stands out so much is because there's literally nothing else like it on the market. Check it out, it'll be worth the money and the time.
